Entry from: Nauplion, Greece Entry Title: "Bye bye Athens hello Peleponese" Entry: "We arrive in Pireaus to pick up our car and it is now around 12pm (so much for an early start). What luck though the car rental place has a ferry agent so we can book our ferry to Santorini. **** - all the ferries to Santorini are full for the first day of our pre paid hotel!!! (this won't be the last time that the spontaneous nature of our trip will bite us in the ass). We can leave the night before and rent the hotel an additional night so we bite the bullet and do it. George our rental car agent is a really nice guy and gives us some intinerary suggestions...unfortunately with one less night to work with and some severe jet leg we won't do any of them. We drive to Nauplio (Naufplio, Naplion - a swear this place is spelled 10 different ways). The GPS that George tried to talk us out of is a life saver getting out of the craziness of Athens. Then we hit the country roads and the GPS shows its true colors. All of the signs point that we are going in the right direction but the GPS keeps saying turn around, turn around - we follow the signs and then for the next two hours the GPS shows we are off the grid - apparently this major toll highway we are on doesn't exist.
